Anyway after getting the Houston Top 50 restaurant guide a few weeks before I had called a couple of the top ones trying to see if they had an available reservations. Of course there was like a 2 month waiting list so I put our name on them and kept going down the list till I found one that wasn't going to take months. Then to my great joy I got a call from the number 2 restaurant called The Pass! They had an opening so that was where we were going to spend our Friday night!
Since I was going to be eating a large tasting menu that night I decided to make a lite salad for lunch. I roasted some sliced cherry and yellow tomatoes with Balsamic, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Sliced up some brown sugar ham, cut up an orange, and mixed a Sherry Vinnagrette with Sherry Vinegar, Olive Oil, Red Wine Vinegar, orange juice, salt and pepper. Then loaded all of that onto some Power Greens I got from Whole Foods.
It was delicious!
Here was a pic of my Bama sleeping while the sun was shining thru after our lunch.
Couldn't resist adding that one haha.
James had to leave a little bit early to make it home in time for our reservations which were at 6:45. He is so busy at work so I felt bad but the girl on the phone had said we were so lucky to get a call back cause no one else answered and it just takes forever to get in!
James shaved off his beard the other day and left his mustache as a joke, here is his 70's porn movie called and wants their stache back impression lol!!
I told him if he doesn't shave it soon then it just becomes what his real look is...I love him!!
This restaurant was in the back of another restaurant hidden by a secret door, very swanky! It was next to an open door of chefs and sous chefs all busily working to present us their delicious creations! Here is each course. I don't have the menu right now so my description will be small.
Breakfast. A granola with an infused milk.
So amazing, tasted like grape nuts but gourmet!
This plate was their version of ham and eggs, had a piece of dehydrated corned beef, a chocolate waffle, a macaroon like a bagel with lox, an English muffin filled with a cream, and because I'm pregnant it was supposed to be an oyster with Bloody Mary sauce but mine was an onion with the sauce. All of it soooo good! The Pasta Course with a broth that was filtered at the table with a heavenly smell!
This was the best course in my opinion, it was pork rinds and caviar made like chips and dip! So yummy!
Chorizo Scallop with eggplant caviar!
Roasted Rabbit with Au Jus....where can I find these tiny carrots?! I just love them!!
House made Rootbeer poured over a sorbet of celery. Amazingly delicious!
Candied Beets with Chai Ice Cream and Chocolate Roll with Carrot Purée inside. My kind of desert, it was sweet but savory...I just love those flavors! I could have had 10!
This was from the Petit Four Tray that came by at the end. I picked one of everything of course haha! The sucker was my favorite, it was orange with flowers inside. Yummmm! The whole experience was fun and I would love to do it again. We had a great full night!
The next morning we had an all day birthing class to go to. Funny because it was another waiting list we were on that we got a call for at last minute. So happy cause the next class was after my due date! And that just wasn't going to work!
This is what I wore, excuse my husband's side of the closet, I'm trying hard to get him to put his stuff in the baskets!
The class was fun but long!
Here was our mat we picked out with 10 other couples. We had to bring 2 pillows and get name tags.
Waiting for everyone to show up!
The classroom.
The nursing students helping James get into the compassion vest. This was the part that showed him how tight it is on our chest and how it's hard to breathe.
I tried getting a pic of the front before they put the cover on it but all I could get was the side view of his Madonna cones!
Such a proud papa of his baby bump!
Comparing our bumps before I made him get on the floor and get up as quick as he could. He said wow this is heavy!! Yeah try doing it for 9 months!! It was quite a sight to see him struggle to sit and stand, I loved it but wished it lasted more than 5 mins! After this we did Lamaze, which was awesome cause I got a massage! I had to give him one too which I didn't think was fair cause hey, he wasn't having the baby! After an hour for lunch we came back and learned all the scary details of having an epideral, I'm terrified now! But in all the class was really worth it, it taught me some breathing and calming techniques, showed James how supportive he is going to need to be, and that I need to wait as long as possible for the epidural so I can walk around and get her where she needs to be! We had a tour of the hospital rooms and almost witnessed a nurse rumble because our instructor wanted to take us into a room and another nurse was like these rooms are all prepped and that we could just peek our heads in. Our instructor did not like that and was like "I've worked here for 15 years and never been told I can't take a class in" a bunch of the nurses came over to decide if we could go in or not which they finally let us do. As soon as we came out tho our instructor decided we were done, told us all to find our own way down and ditched us while she proceeded to run into the head nurses office to bitch about that poor nurse we assumed. It was pretty hilarious the glare she gave her on her way to the office!
After the class we headed over to my mother in laws for a cookout and to watch the Alabama game. I was so exhausted after the all day class so I was not much company, just laid on the couch and watched my niece and nephew run around like crazy animals preparing me for my own wild monkey about to escape my belly.
Bridgette playing with her uncles gauges, I knew one day they wouldn't be scared of them any more haha! They are such cuties, little James kept coming up to me to look at my belly and tell us how he couldn't wait to meet his cousin! I also taught him to say Roll Tide and fell in love with him even more when he went to his daddy and whispered Roll Tide into his ear!
After almost falling asleep on the couch and looking thru some old photo albums of my husband and his brother growing up, we headed home where I quickly passed out. An Alabama win and a great family day. Can't wait to bring Zara into the world and start our journey with her. I love my family!!
